Dr. Spiros Frangos

Biography

Spiros G. Frangos, MD, MPH, is a Professor in the Department of Surgery at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and serves as the Chief of the Division of Acute Care Surgery at Bellevue Hospital Center. He specializes in Critical Care Surgery and General Surgery for adults. Dr. Frangos completed his medical degree at SUNY-Downstate in 1996, followed by a Master of Public Health from Yale University in 2000. His residency in General Surgery was completed at Yale-New Haven Hospital in 2003, and he subsequently completed a fellowship in Surgical Critical Care at the same institution in 2004. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in both Surgical Critical Care and General Surgery, with certifications obtained in 2004. His clinical interests include managing critical surgical conditions such as trauma, septic shock, and acute respiratory distress syndrome. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Frangos is actively involved in teaching and mentoring medical students and residents, focusing on advanced surgical techniques and critical care principles.
