Biography

Sreerekha Mullassery Sathiamma joined the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) in January 2020 as an Assistant Professor. Prior to her role at ISS, she taught at the University of Virginia, USA, in their Global Studies Program as well as at the Department of Women’s Studies at Jamia Millia Islamia in New Delhi, India. Sreerekha has served on the Editorial Board of the journal Development and Change. Her academic interests are diverse, focusing on the political economy of gender, welfare workers in South Asia, feminist theories and epistemologies, anti-caste politics and activism, and land rights movements in India. She also explores themes of racialization and care work in the context of future developments in care, including the impact of artificial intelligence and robotics. Additionally, her research addresses globalization, transnational corporations, and critical perspectives on political economy, decolonization, and reparations. Sreerekha's commitment to decolonial thought is evident in her scholarly engagements and initiatives.
