Dr. Srijan Kumar

Biography

Srijan Kumar is an Assistant Professor in the School of Computational Science and Engineering within the College of Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology. His research focuses on developing data science solutions to address high-stakes challenges within online society. He has pioneered user models and network science tools to enhance the well-being and safety of individuals. His work has applications across various domains, including e-commerce, finance, health, web, and cybersecurity. Kumar's methodologies for predicting malicious users and false information have been widely adopted in practice, including being used in production by companies such as Flipkart and Wikipedia. He has taught graduate-level courses globally and has received several accolades, including the ACM SIGKDD Doctoral Dissertation Award runner-up in 2018 and the Larry S. Davis Doctoral Dissertation Award in the same year. His research has been featured in prominent media outlets such as CNN, the Wall Street Journal, Wired, and New York Magazine. He completed his postdoctoral training at Stanford University and holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Maryland, College Park and a B.Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
