Biography

Srinita Majumdar is a doctoral student in the Department of History of Modern World at ETH Zurich. Her research, supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation, explores the history of playgrounds in colonial Indian cities such as Calcutta, Bombay, and Madras from 1900 to 1950. She analyzes how playgrounds emerged as hybrid spaces shaped by local negotiations and global circulations of knowledge, with a focus on discursive constructions and material realities. Prior to joining ETH Zurich, Srinita completed her undergraduate, master's, and MPhil degrees in History from the University of Delhi and Jawaharlal Nehru University in India.
