Dr. Srinivas Kavuturu

Biography

Srinivas Kavuturu, MD, FRCS, FACS, serves as the interim chairperson and associate professor at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine’s Department of Surgery. He is a board-certified, fellowship-trained hepatobiliary surgeon who joined Michigan State University in 2013. He completed his medical degree in general surgery at Kurnool Medical College – NTR University of Health Sciences in Kurnool, India. His further training included a general surgery residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center in New York and multiple fellowships in minimally invasive and surgical oncology at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Dr. Kavuturu's clinical focuses include pancreatic cancer, complex ventral hernias, and adrenal tumors, while his research interests involve simulation surgical education and minimally invasive techniques. His roles at MSU include medical director of MSU Health Care Surgery and chair of the Department of Surgery at Sparrow Hospital. He performs surgeries at multiple hospitals, including McLaren Greater Lansing and University of Michigan-Sparrow Hospitals.
