Srinivas Marmamula received his initial optometry training at L V Prasad Eye Institute and completed his Master's in Community Eye Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London, with joint sponsorship from the Department for International Development (DFID - UK) and the British Council for Prevention of Blindness. He earned his PhD from the School of Optometry and Vision Science at UNSW Sydney in 2011, supported by Vision CRC. Marmamula pursued post-doctoral research fellowship at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins University, in 2012-2013 and received additional training at Massachusetts Eye and Ear, Harvard Medical School’s Department of Ophthalmology in 2019. He has served as chief optometrist for landmark studies, including the Andhra Pradesh Eye Disease Study and the Refractive Error Study in Children, supported by the National Eye Institute and World Health Organization. He was the principal investigator for the Hyderabad Ocular Morbidity Elderly Study from 2017 to 2020. A faculty member at the Brien Holden School of Optometry and Vision Science, Marmamula has authored over 100 publications in peer-reviewed journals and has served on editorial boards of reputed journals. He has received the Wellcome Trust / DBT India Alliance Early Career Fellowship in 2015 and the Intermediate Fellowship to conduct longitudinal research on elderly populations, focusing on the epidemiology of visual impairment and eye health in vulnerable communities.
