Biography

Sriram Narasimhan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Environmental Engineering at the University of Waterloo, Canada. He holds the position of Canada Research Chair in Smart Infrastructure. His primary research focuses on structural dynamics, system identification, and condition assessment of structural mechanical systems, particularly in relation to seismic performance. Narasimhan completed his PhD in 2005 at Rice University, specializing in control of base-isolated structures. Since joining the University of Waterloo in 2006, he has been promoted to Associate Professor in 2012. Prior to his academic career, he worked in the Risk Consulting Division of the American Bureau of Shipping in Houston, Texas. Narasimhan is actively involved in international technical committees and serves as an Associate Editor for the ASCE Journal of Bridge Engineering and the ASCE Journal of Structural Engineering. He also participates on the editorial board of the Journal of Structural Control and Health Monitoring, and reviews for various international scientific journals. He is a registered professional engineer in Ontario, Canada.
