Biography

The research of the Bent laboratory focuses on understanding and controlling surface and interfacial chemistry to address a range of problems in semiconductor processing, micro- and nano-electronics, and sustainable renewable energy. The goal is to develop a molecular-level comprehension of systems, employing a variety of molecular probes for analysis. Current studies within the group include functionalization of semiconductor surfaces, mechanisms of control in atomic layer deposition and molecular layer deposition, nanoscale materials for light absorption, interface engineering of photovoltaics, and the deposition of catalysts and electrocatalysts. Professor Bent has received multiple prestigious awards acknowledging her contributions to the field, including the 2021 Innovator Award from the American Vacuum Society and recognition as a Fellow by both the American Chemical Society and the World Technology Network.
