Biography

Stacey L. Connaughton (Ph.D., University of Texas at Austin) is a Professor in the Brian Lamb School of Communication at Purdue University and the Director of the Purdue Policy Research Institute (PPRI) within Purdue’s Discovery Park. Her research examines leadership in multi-stakeholder organizing and the context of political violence prevention initiatives. As Director of the Purdue Peace Project (PPP), Dr. Connaughton has led efforts in multi-stakeholder relationship building and project development for locally led political violence prevention initiatives in Ghana, Liberia, and Nigeria. Her work fosters collaboration among media organizations, government, private sectors, NGOs, and civil society to address violence-related issues. Dr. Connaughton’s academic contributions include the Local Leadership Model and the Relationally Attentive Approach to engaged scholarship, which focuses on political violence prevention collaborations. She has secured over $3 million in grant funding and has been recognized with numerous teaching awards, including Purdue’s Faculty Engaged Scholar Award and the Graduate Mentor Award. Dr. Connaughton serves as Associate Editor for the Journal Communication and is involved in various editorial boards and graduate studies leadership positions.
