Stacey Finley is a Professor in Biomedical Engineering and the inaugural holder of the Nicole A. Thuan Q. Pham Professorship at the University of Southern California (USC). She earned her Bachelor's and Doctoral degrees in Chemical Engineering from Florida A&M University and Northwestern University, respectively. Dr. Finley completed postdoctoral training at Johns Hopkins University in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Since joining the faculty at USC in 2013, she has led the Computational Systems Biology Laboratory. Her research focuses on developing mechanistic models of biological processes, which facilitate the understanding of dynamics and regulation within biological systems. These models aim to synthesize and interpret experimental clinical observations, providing a quantitative framework to test biological hypotheses and aiding in the development of novel therapeutics for pathological conditions. Dr. Finley collaborates closely with experimental and clinical researchers to construct experimentally validated computational models that enhance the understanding of specific biological processes. Some current projects involve the computational modeling of immune cell signaling, metabolism, and angiogenesis, particularly in cancer. In recognition of her contributions, she has received numerous awards, including the 2016 NSF Faculty Early CAREER Award and the 2021 Elected Fellow of the American Institute for Biological and Medical Engineering.
