Dr. Stacey Mitchell

Biography

Stacey Mitchell is a Clinical Professor and the Director of the Texas A&M Health Center of Excellence in Forensic Nursing. With a diverse educational background including a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and a Master of Education (MEd) from Texas A&M University, she possesses a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the field of forensic nursing. Her research interests are centered around simulation in forensic nursing education, quality patient safety improvements, and forensic nursing care, alongside program development and evaluation in these areas. She also emphasizes the significance of trauma and violence awareness in nursing education. As a prominent figure in her field, Professor Mitchell holds several professional certifications and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN) and a Distinguished Fellow of the Academy of Forensic Nursing. Her leadership roles include serving as President of the Forensic Nursing Certification Board. Professor Mitchell has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Bronze Medalist from the Good Samaritan Foundation, Women Distinction Award, and honors from the International Association of Forensic Nurses, among others. Her commitment to teaching and leadership continues to shape future nurses in the forensic nursing specialty.
