Biography

Dr. Stacey Scott received her PhD from the University of Calgary in 2005 and completed postdoctoral training at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 2005 to 2007. She has a strong background in human-computer interaction, computer-supported collaboration, and computer science. Prior to joining the University of Guelph in 2016, Scott spent nine years as a professor at the University of Waterloo, where she served as the Associate Professor and Assistant Director of the School of Systems Design Engineering. She is also the Director of the Collaborative Systems Laboratory and a founding member of the Games Institute at the University of Waterloo. Dr. Scott's research focuses on the design and development of technologies that enhance human interaction in collaborative settings, particularly in face-to-face environments. Her work emphasizes user-centered design practices and integrates interdisciplinary theories to create innovative interactive systems. Recent projects have included integrating large-format displays with mobile devices to support flexibility in collaborative activities, as well as exploring precision livestock farming technologies to monitor the health and welfare of farm animals.
