Stacey K. Sowards teaches courses in communication theory, rhetorical theory, environmental communication, gender communication, and intercultural communication. Her book on Dolores Huerta and the United Farm Workers was published in 2019 by the University of Texas Press. Additionally, Dr. Sowards has served as a department chair and full professor in the Department of Communication and as a research fellow at the Sam Donaldson Center at the University of Texas at El Paso. Her work engages with the complex politics of race, gender, language, and class and their impact on marginalized communities in the United States and South America.
