Stacey K. Sowards is a Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at The University of Texas at Austin. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Kansas in 2001 and has taught courses in communication theory, rhetorical theory, environmental communication, gender communication, and intercultural communication. Notably, her book on Dolores Huerta and the United Farm Workers was published in 2019 by the University of Texas Press. Prior to her role at The University of Texas at Austin, she served as department chair and was a research fellow at the Sam Donaldson Center at the University of Texas at El Paso.
