Biography

Stacy Bennett's work has primarily focused on reforms in developmental education at the state level, with scholarly interests centering on public policy, disability, and equity in higher education. As a Teaching Assistant Professor in the Department of Education Policy, Organization & Leadership at the College of Education, Bennett draws on her extensive professional background in public policy, political campaigns, and grassroots advocacy. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with various organizations, candidates, and elected officials across national, state, and local levels, particularly in regions such as Chicago, Washington, D.C., and parts of Iowa, Missouri, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Long Island, New York. Before her current role, she worked in undergraduate admissions at the University of Illinois and served as an independent consultant on a range of education projects, including grant evaluation and public awareness campaigns. Bennett holds a Ph.D. in Education Policy and Organization Leadership focused on Higher Education Policy from the University of Illinois, a Master of Public Policy from the University of Chicago, and a B.S. in Political Science, Geography, and Environmental Science from Kansas State University.
