Biography

Stacy K. Dymond is a Professor of Special Education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her research interests focus on curriculum instruction for students with severe intellectual disabilities within inclusive school community settings. She has directed several grant funded projects related to service learning, access to the general curriculum, and the preparation and development of personnel in the field. As an editor for Research Practice for Persons with Severe Disabilities, Dr. Dymond also serves on the editorial board of additional academic journals. She coordinates the initial special education teacher licensure program and the advanced teacher licensure program specializing in severe disabilities. Her courses cover diverse topics, including the educational characteristics of individuals with multiple disabilities and the application of curriculum development principles in life skill domains. Through hands-on activities and community-based instruction, she explores curricular goals for secondary transition-age students with severe intellectual disabilities.
