Professor Dr. Staffan Lindberg

Biography

Staffan Lindberg is a Professor of Political Science at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, where he has been a faculty member since 2010. He obtained his PhD from Lund University in 2005, which was awarded the American Political Science Association's Juan Linz Award. Prior to his current position, Lindberg served as an assistant professor at Kent State University and later at the University of Florida, where he was promoted to Associate Professor. He is the founding director of the V-Dem Institute at the University of Gothenburg, which focuses on research related to democracy, governance, and political representation, particularly in the context of Africa. He has led various research programs and has received numerous grants from prestigious funders. Lindberg's current interests encompass Comparative Politics, Democracy, Democratization processes, Political Institutions, and Public Opinion, and he has published extensively in leading academic journals.
