Biography

Stan Woo is a Clinical Professor in the School of Optometry and Vision Science at the University of Waterloo. He earned his Doctorate of Optometry (OD) from the University of California at Berkeley and went on to complete a Master's degree in Vision Science with a residency in Low Vision Rehabilitation at the University of Houston College of Optometry (UHCO). He has served as the chief of the Vision Rehabilitation Service and was the founding director of the UEI Center for Sight Enhancement. His research interests primarily focus on vision rehabilitation systems aimed at optimizing patient care outcomes. Dr. Woo practiced for eighteen years at the Texas Medical Center with Retina Consultants in Houston. In 2013, he received an MBA with a concentration in medical health care management from the Rice University Jones Graduate School of Business and joined Southern California College of Optometry (SCCO) as a dean and professor. He has significantly contributed to interprofessional education at Marshall B. Ketchum University, collaborating with students from various health disciplines. Dr. Woo has held leadership roles in several professional organizations, including the Texas Optometric Association and the American Board of Optometry, and has been an active volunteer within the Department of Veterans Affairs.
