Biography

Stan Zochowski completed his undergraduate degree in Physics at McMaster University, Hamilton, Canada. He was awarded the NSERC '67 Science Scholarship and became a Massey College Fellow at the University of Toronto, where he received his M.Sc. focused on ultrasonic studies of chromium manganese and later his Ph.D. on magnetic phase diagrams of neodymium and neodymium-praseodymium under the supervision of Professor Eric Fawcett. He spent six months as Acting Dean at Victoria University in Toronto before moving to Birkbeck College, London, where he held postdoctoral positions in the Physics and Chemistry departments. In 1992, he was appointed to a lectureship in Physics at Birkbeck and joined the Condensed Matter and Materials Physics group at University College London in 1997.
