Biography

Stanka Radović's work explores space in urban environments through the lens of contemporary dystopian fiction and postcolonial literatures, particularly focusing on the interplay of social space and spatial imagination. She examines figures of marginalization as they reflect the dominant political ideologies evidenced by social organization and the impact these have on identity conceptualizations. Utilizing Marxist and psychogeographic heterotopian approaches, her research delves into how these elements influence our understanding of dystopian and neo-gothic literatures, all while maintaining a long-standing interest in postcolonial studies, especially within Anglophone and Francophone Caribbean contexts. This methodological framework informs her attention to questions of social normativity and class structures, as well as the mechanisms of marginalization and the ideological claims that contest spatiality in contemporary literature.
