Biography

Dr. Stanley Liauw serves as the Director of Clinical Operations and is a clinical lead for the genitourinary (GU) cancer program and gastrointestinal (GI) cancer program in the Department of Radiation and Cellular Oncology at the University of Chicago. Over the past ten years, he has developed various research programs focused on disease sites and outcomes research in clinical trials. His central mission in research is to conduct clinical studies that define current clinical outcomes and areas to develop hypotheses to test novel regimens aimed at reducing morbidity and mortality associated with radiation therapy in cancer treatment. Dr. Liauw's major focus includes periodic analysis and reporting of cancer outcomes related to radiation therapy. His work has derived from multiple institutional databases involving more than 2000 patients and has resulted in numerous abstract presentations and publications in peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Clinical Oncology and the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, Physics. His contributions generally focus on enhancing the therapeutic ratio of therapy, studying the use of imaging in radiation oncology, and exploring potential markers for therapy response. Dr. Liauw has initiated various clinical protocols and has investigated numerous clinical trials involving dose-escalated stereotactic body radiation treatment for unresectable pancreatic cancer and several other studies for prostate cancer and renal cell carcinoma.
