Dr. Stanley Liauw

Biography

Dr. Stanley Liauw serves as the Director of Clinical Operations and clinical lead for the genitourinary (GU) and gastrointestinal (GI) cancer programs at the University of Chicago's Department of Radiation and Cellular Oncology. Over the past ten years, he has developed significant research programs focusing on clinical outcomes and clinical trials in various disease sites. His central mission in research is to conduct clinical studies aimed at defining current clinical outcomes and testing novel regimens to reduce morbidity and mortality related to radiation therapy in cancer treatment. Dr. Liauw has undertaken extensive analysis of cancer treatment outcomes, drawing from multiple institutional databases encompassing more than 2000 patients, which has led to numerous abstract presentations and publications in peer-reviewed journals. His contributions are typically categorized into three areas: improving the therapeutic ratio in treatment, studying imaging in radiation oncology, and exploring response markers. He has initiated several clinical protocols and has led trials investigating innovative radiation treatment strategies for conditions such as unresectable pancreatic cancer and prostate cancer, among others. Dr. Liauw's expertise is recognized nationally and internationally, as he frequently serves as a speaker at educational lectures and has been acknowledged for his contributions to resident education and clinical practice.
