Biography

Stanley Xie is an ARC DECRA fellow with research expertise in the discovery and development of novel antimalarial inhibitors. He completed his PhD at the University of Melbourne, investigating the mechanism of action of artemisinin. His postdoctoral work has focused on translating basic research findings into the preclinical development of antimalarial drug candidates. Stanley has collaborated with Takeda Pharmaceuticals, GSK, and the Medicines for Malaria Venture to develop small-molecule inhibitors during the high-throughput screening and hit-to-lead phases for malaria treatment. He is the lead author of publications in high-impact journals such as Science, Nature Microbiology, Nature Communications, and PNAS. Stanley has received several awards, including the Fred Collins Award in 2016 and the ASBMB Young Scientist Award in 2021. His research interests encompass Infectious Diseases, Drug Discovery, Protein Chemistry, and Molecular Structural Biology, with a focus on Mass Spectrometry.
