Dr. Sté Fanie Von Hlatky

Biography

Stéfanie von Hlatky is a Canada Research Chair in Gender, Security, and Armed Forces and a full professor in the Department of Political Studies at Queen's University. She also serves as the Associate Dean (Research) in the Faculty of Arts and Science. She received her Ph.D. in Political Science from Université de Montréal in 2010. Stéfanie has held academic positions at several prestigious institutions, including Georgetown University and ETH Zurich, and she was a Fulbright Visiting Research Chair at the University of Southern California’s Center for Public Diplomacy. Her research focuses on military cooperation, NATO alliances, and gender dynamics within armed forces, with significant contributions to the fields of International Relations and Gender Politics. Stéfanie has published extensively in renowned journals and has authored several monographs, contributing to academic discourse on military operations and gender roles. She is also a founding member of Women in International Security-Canada, highlighting her commitment to gender equality in the field. Stéfanie has received multiple awards and grants from notable organizations, reflecting her impactful work in Canadian national security.
