Biography

Stefan Bon is a Professor of Polymer and Colloid Chemical Engineering at the University of Warwick. Originally from the Netherlands and educated at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), he joined the Warwick Chemistry department in spring 1998. His research team, BonLab, operates at the forefront of polymer colloid science, integrating aspects of chemistry, soft matter physics, and chemical engineering. Recognized for his contributions, he was awarded the Royal Society Chemistry Materials Division Outreach Lecturer title for 2015-2016 and the individual Warwick Award for Teaching Excellence (WATE) in 2021. Bon has chaired the future/new education workgroup for STEM-Grand Challenge in 2021 and is the director of STEM+ MSc courses focusing on Global Decarbonisation and Climate Change, with a new curriculum introduced in Autumn 2023. He is a Fellow of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) and served on the advisory board of the Royal Society Chemistry's scientific journals. His research encompasses a range of themes within colloid polymer science, including the mechanistic understanding of polymer colloid synthesis, physical and mechanical behavior, and the development of advanced sustainable materials for industrial applications.
