Biography

Stefan Larsson is a Full Professor in Geotechnology at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, specializing in geotechnical engineering and soil rock mechanics. With 35 years of experience as a civil engineering contractor, consultant, and academic, he has been significantly involved in various infrastructure projects, focusing on ground improvement methods, risk reliability analysis, and discrete element modeling of railway embankments. He has also explored artificial intelligence applications in geotechnical constructions and has worked with numerous funding organizations including the Swedish Transportation Administration and the Swedish Research Council Formas. In his academic role, he supervises Ph.D. and Licentiate students and has overseen more than 130 MSc thesis works. Currently, he serves as the Director of the Cycle Education at the School of Architecture and the Built Environment (ABE) at KTH, and is responsible for multiple courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
