Biography

Professor Maier holds the Lee-Lucas Chair in Experimental Physics at Imperial College London. He has served as the Head of the Experimental Solid State Physics Group from 2016 to 2018 and as the Director of Postgraduate Studies from 2014 to 2018 within the Department of Physics in the Faculty of Natural Sciences. His research group conducts a wide variety of fundamental and applied research in areas including nanoplasmonics, nanophotonics, and metamaterials. His work focuses on unraveling light/matter interactions at the nanoscale, developing highly efficient optical biosensors, and creating light harvesting nanostructures for photovoltaics. Additionally, he is involved in the development of new materials and devices in photonic nanotechnology.
