Biography

Stefan P. Schmid is a doctoral researcher in the Digital Chemistry Laboratory at ETH Zurich under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Kjell Jorner. He has a Master's degree specializing in Catalysis research and received several accolades, including the IBM Research Prize and the S. & N. Blank Prize for his outstanding master's thesis. His research focuses on optimizing chemical reactions through the discovery and development of new catalytic methods, specifically employing Bayesian Optimization algorithms to enhance laboratory efficiencies in reaction optimization and catalyst development. This research is part of his PhD work, for which he was awarded a fellowship from the Talent Program in Catalysis Sustainable Chemistry. Schmid began his academic journey by completing his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry at ETH Zurich, where he also received the Excellence Scholarship Opportunity Programme.
