Biography

Stefan Sjöström awarded PhD Communication Studies at Linköpings University in 1997. He has served as a Senior Lecturer in Media Communication Studies at Umeå University, a Senior Research Fellow at Luleå University of Technology, and was a project leader at the Nordic School for Public Health in Göteborg. Prior to accepting his chair at Uppsala University in 2018, he was appointed Associate Professor of Social Work at Umeå University in 2006. Currently, he is on research leave and visiting the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies at Oxford University. He leads the research group Emotion-Justice-Interaction (EmoJI) with colleague Stina Bergman Blix, focusing on topics related to gender, sexuality, mental health, coercion, public relations, and the legal process in regards to violence and victimology.
