Prof. Stefan Sperlich holds a diploma in mathematics from the University of Göttingen and a PhD in economics from Humboldt University of Berlin. He became a professor of statistics at the University Carlos III de Madrid in 1998 and held the chair of econometrics at the University of Göttingen from 2006 to 2010. Since 2010, he has been a professor of statistics and econometrics at the University of Geneva. His research interests include nonparametric statistics, small area statistics, and empirical economics, particularly impact evaluation methods. He has over 15 years of experience as a consultant for regional, national, and international institutions, participating in development programs such as EUROSociAL and UN assessment reports. He is also a co-founder of the research center 'Poverty, Equity and Growth in Developing Countries' at the University of Göttingen and a research fellow at the Center for Evaluation and Development in Mannheim, Germany. His work has been published in top-ranked scientific journals in his fields, and he was awarded the Koopmans econometric theory prize in 2002.
