Biography

Stefan Stoll earned his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from ETH Zürich in 2003, having previously completed his B.Eng. and M.Eng. at the University of Technology in Graz, Austria. His research primarily focuses on the application of electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy to study the structure and catalytic mechanisms of metalloenzymes. Before joining the University of Washington in 2011, he conducted postdoctoral research with R. David Britt at the University of California, Davis. Apart from his academic pursuits, he enjoys hiking in the Pacific Northwest and playing the flute. Stoll has been recognized for his contributions to science with several awards, including the Bruker Prize from the Royal Society of Chemistry in 2023 and election as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in 2021. He also serves as the Associate Chair for Research in his department and is involved in mentoring graduate students.
