Biography

Stefan Weber received his degree in Electrical Engineering Automation from the University of Ilmenau in Germany in 1998. He joined the Robotics Lab of the University of Southern California as a Fulbright Fellow. He graduated with a PhD in Augmented Reality applications in medicine from Humboldt-University Berlin in Germany in 2004. From 2005 to 2008, he worked as a young scientist at Technische Universität München. From 2008 to 2012, he served as an assistant professor in Computer Assisted Surgery and Implantation Technology at the University of Bern. In 2012, he became a full professor and director of the ARTORG Center Biomedical Engineering at the University of Bern. His research interests include fundamental translational aspects of image-guided surgery, surgical robotics, and medical image analysis. He is also a member of the Cantonal Ethics Board.
