Biography

Dr. Stefania Tognin holds a degree in Cognitive Psychology and Psychobiology, and a master’s in Clinical Psychology from the University of Padua, completed in 2008. In 2014, she became a registered Clinical Psychologist in Italy and the UK. Dr. Tognin obtained her PhD in Psychosis Studies in 2015 from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) and is currently a Reader in Psychology Early Intervention Psychosis. She works as an honorary Clinical Psychologist for the Outreach Support South London (OASIS) team at the South London Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, focusing on early detection of psychosis. Dr. Tognin’s dual roles in research and clinical practice involve supporting young people in the early stages of psychosis. Her research emphasizes the interaction of biological, environmental, and psychological factors in the onset and progression of psychosis. Additionally, she contributes to the design and evaluation of innovative interventions aimed at improving early psychosis services and promoting individualized care for those at risk of developing mental health disorders. She also explores novel vocational psychosocial interventions, such as Individual Placement Support. Dr. Tognin is the Deputy Programme Leader and Deputy Chair for the MSc in Mental Health Studies, where she leads several modules including Basic Mental Health and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
