Biography

Stefanie Eyerich studied biology at the University of Regensburg and Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich from 1998 to 2004, completed her PhD at the Technical University of Munich from 2004 to 2008, and had a postdoctoral stay at Imperial College London in 2008-2009. She led the Helmholtz Young Investigator Group focused on 'T Cell Biology in Health and Disease'. In 2019, she was appointed to the professorship in 'Functional Allergology' at the Technical University of Munich. Her research primarily addresses chronic inflammatory skin diseases, such as psoriasis and atopic eczema. She investigates how adaptive immune cells contribute to inflammatory processes and seeks to decode the miscommunication between immune cells and tissue-derived epithelial cells. Eyerich's research is aimed at translating findings into improved diagnostics and therapeutic options.
