Biography

Stefanie Jegelka is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She also holds a Humboldt Professorship at the Technical University of Munich. Affiliated with the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) and the Institute for Data, Systems, and Society (IDSS) at MIT, her research focuses on algorithmic machine learning. She explores the mathematical structure of discrete combinatorial machine learning problems and the robustness and scalability of machine learning algorithms. Stefanie received her PhD from Max Planck Institute in Tuebingen and also contributed to research at ETH Zurich. Her work has been supported by numerous prestigious awards including the Sloan Research Fellowship, NSF CAREER Award, and DARPA Young Faculty Award. She has received multiple accolades for her papers, including acceptance to ICLR and AISTATS, and has been involved in various high-level academic conferences as a program chair.
