Dr. Stefano Mezzini

Biography

Stefano Mezzini is a PhD student specializing in Biology at the University of British Columbia's Okanagan campus. His research involves quantitative ecology, statistical ecology, and macroecology, focusing on animal movement and the effects of environmental stochasticity. He studies how stochastic processes influence animal space use and resource abundance across ecosystems. With a robust background in both Biology and Statistics from the University of Regina, Stefano employs advanced quantitative methods to tackle ecological questions. His work emphasizes the importance of understanding the energetics of species and their responses to environmental changes, including fire ecology and the decolonization of research methodologies. He collaborates closely with his faculty advisor, Dr. Michael J. Noonan, on these pressing topics in ecology.
