Dr. Stefano Scagnolari

Biography

Stefano Scagnolari is a lecturer and researcher at the Università della Svizzera italiana, where he is affiliated with the Institute of Economic Research (IRE) and the Tourism Observatory (O-Tur). He specializes in the analysis of the tourism industry in Ticino, focusing on systematic observation of tourism demand and local supply. Scagnolari teaches in the Master's program in International Tourism, as well as in courses that connect Economics with Communication Sciences applied to tourism. He completed his Master's Degree in Statistical Economic Sciences at the University of Bologna in 2005 and later worked as a research assistant at IRE in 2006. In 2013, he earned his PhD in Economics from USI, with a thesis centered on the mobility behavior of young people during their free time. His research interests include urban mobility and tourism economics, applying individual choice models with a consideration for psychological aspects. Scagnolari has also been involved in collaborative teaching efforts between USI and the University of Pisa, focusing on courses such as 'Transport Mobility and Tourism' and 'Statistics for Tourism.'
