Stefano Tiziani is an Associate Professor in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin, with courtesy appointments in the Department of Oncology and the Department of Pediatrics at Dell Medical School. He holds an adjunct position in the Department of Biochemistry and Structural Biology at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Tiziani received his Laurea in Chemistry from the University of Trieste in Italy and his Ph.D. in Food Science and Nutrition from Ohio State University. He completed postdoctoral training in metabolomics-based systems biology and molecular oncology at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom and at the Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute in La Jolla, California. His research interests focus on translational chemical biology using metabolomics-based systems biology approaches for metabolic biomarker discovery. Tiziani's lab combines high-throughput screening measurements, magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry-based metabolomics to understand the effects of combined drug treatments and nutrient modulation on cancer and non-cancer conditions. His current work is dedicated to developing and integrating high-throughput screening with untargeted metabolomics data to identify cancer vulnerabilities and accelerate the discovery of novel synergistic combinatorial treatments.
