Dr. Steffen Hertog

Biography

Steffen Hertog is a Professor of Comparative Politics in the Department of Government at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He joined the department in 2010, having previously held the position of Kuwait Professor at Sciences Po Paris, and worked as a lecturer in political economy at the University of Durham. Hertog completed his post-doctoral research fellowship at Princeton University. He holds a Master's degree from the University of Bonn, an MSc from the School of Oriental and African Studies, and a D.Phil. from the University of Oxford. His research primarily focuses on comparative political economy, examining aspects of comparative politics within the developing world, particularly in the context of Gulf and Middle Eastern politics. Hertog is actively involved in teaching and offers courses including Power Politics in the Modern World, Political Economy of the Developing World, Introduction to Comparative Politics, and Qualitative Methods in the Study of Politics.
