Biography

Steffen Hindelang is a professor of International Investment Trade Law at Uppsala University in Sweden. His research encompasses international economic law, particularly focusing on international investment law, EU law, and German public law. He has held faculty positions at the University of Southern Denmark and serves as adjunct faculty at Humboldt University of Berlin and the Technical University of Berlin. Hindelang is also a senior fellow at the Walter Hallstein Institute of European Constitutional Law at Humboldt University. He has been a guest professor at various prestigious universities, including Nagoya University, Bocconi University, the University of Lausanne, Charles University in Prague, the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), and the Turkish-German University in Istanbul. Furthermore, he has provided expert advice to European governments on investment screening regulations and international investment disputes, working with organizations like UNCTAD. Steffen has been called upon by the European Parliament's INTA Committee to prepare studies on the evolution of the EU's Common Commercial Policy in investment matters. He has participated in significant court proceedings related to EU law and serves as a designated conciliator for the ICSID Panel from 2019-2025. Additionally, he is the co-editor of the YSEC Yearbook of Socio-Economic Constitutions, published by Springer.
