Dr. Steffen Korsgaard

Biography

Steffen Korsgaard is a Professor at the University of Southern Denmark, focusing on entrepreneurship as a driver of regional development and social innovation. His research employs qualitative conceptual methods to explore social interactions within entrepreneurial processes, particularly in rural entrepreneurship. Dr. Korsgaard integrates theories from various fields such as entrepreneurship, innovation, human geography, and economics. In addition to his primary role at SDU, he holds an affiliated position at the Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Oslo. He serves as a consulting editor for the International Small Business Journal and the editorial review board of Entrepreneurship & Regional Development. Currently, his research interests are centered on social innovation and social entrepreneurship, examining the role of rural entrepreneurs in fostering positive regional development. He actively engages in creating impact through advisory roles for social innovators and entrepreneurs, providing consulting to local and international organizations, including the OECD. Korsgaard's dedication extends to teaching, where he focuses on scientific research processes, business development models, and strategy. He has been recognized with several awards for his contributions, including the Highly Commended Paper Award and the Outstanding Paper Award. His extensive network in both academia and industry supports his research activities and collaborations across Europe.
