Steffen Lindert received his M.Sc. in Physics from the University of Leipzig in 2006 and his Ph.D. in Chemical Physical Biology with a focus on Molecular Biophysics from Vanderbilt University in 2011. Under the guidance of Professors Jens Meiler and Phoebe Stewart, he worked on a combined experimental and computational project that developed a software program called EM-Fold, designed to fold proteins from medium-resolution cryo-EM density maps. After completing his Ph.D., he joined Professor Andy McCammon's laboratory at the University of California, San Diego, as a postdoctoral fellow. His research there concentrated on macromolecular simulations of proteins involved in cardiomyocyte contraction and computer-aided drug discovery. In August 2015, he established his research group at Ohio State University, focusing on the development and application of computational techniques for modeling biological systems. His work aims to provide a more profound understanding of biomolecular processes, prediction of protein structures using sparse experimental data, and the discovery of new drugs. Dr. Lindert is set to move to UCLA in July 2025.
