Dr. Steinn Steingrimsson

Biography

Steinn Steingrimsson is a Senior Lecturer and Chief Physician at the University of Gothenburg, where he leads a research group focusing on Digital Psychiatry. He is actively involved in clinical studies and supervises doctoral students. His research interests lie in the impact of digital tools on mental health and psychiatric disorders. Steingrimsson is also a scientific secretary of the Swedish Psychiatric Association and serves as the chairman of the Swedish Association for Philosophy in Psychiatry. He has conducted numerous clinical studies assessing the efficacy of various psychiatric interventions and tools, including the Virtual Calm Room in psychiatric inpatient care and the use of digital platforms in therapy. Throughout his career, he has published widely on topics such as psychotherapy, pharmacological treatments, and the utilization of technology in mental health care, as well as presented his findings at numerous conferences. Steingrimsson has also focused on the implications of COVID-19 on psychiatric services and the importance of personal experience in treatment outcomes. He is committed to advancing the field of psychiatry through research and education, ensuring that emerging methodologies and practices are informed by evidence and collaboration with peers.
