Biography

Prof. Stephan Freudenstein focuses on structural design pertaining to road and railway infrastructure as well as aviation surfaces. He studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and became a research associate at TUM’s Chair of Traffic Route Construction in 1997. Subsequently, in 2002, he joined Pfleiderer Infrastrukturtechnik GmbH, a company well-known for its advancements in the field. In this role, he headed the technology development department overseeing prestressed concrete sleeper projects throughout Germany and beyond. In 2008, he was appointed a full professor at the Chair of Traffic Route Construction at TUM and also took on the role of director at the corresponding test institute located in Pasing, Munich. His significant contributions to academia and industry are reflected in various publications focused on concrete technology and railway engineering, demonstrating his expertise in the analysis and design of construction elements.
