Stephan Pomp is a Professor of Applied Nuclear Physics at Uppsala University. He completed his Diploma in Physics at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg in Germany in 1994 and obtained his PhD in nuclear particle physics from Uppsala University in 1999. His doctoral research focused on hyperon production and anti-protons through experiments conducted with the PS185 collaboration at CERN. Pomp has been a Professor of Applied Nuclear Physics since 2012 and has over 20 years of teaching experience in courses ranging from Introduction to Nuclear Physics Applications to Experimental Methods in Physics. His research primarily investigates nuclear fission, with interests in neutron-induced reactions such as light-ion production. This work involves using advanced experimental facilities across Europe, including IGISOL in Finland and CERN in Switzerland, and aims to improve nuclear data libraries for technology applications. Pomp is engaged in several international collaborations and oversees multiple PhD students in various projects related to nuclear fission and reactions.
