Biography

Stéphane Ouellet received his medical degree and training in obstetrics and gynecology from the University of Montreal. He completed a fellowship in urogynecology and pelvic reconstruction in Lyon, France, under Professors Daniel D'argent and George Mellier and has participated in numerous internships in the USA. Currently, he serves as an Assistant Professor at the University of Montreal and is the director of the urogynecology and neuro-urology unit at the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM). His research focuses on the use of synthetic materials in urogynecology and the development of measurement instruments for pelvic floor dynamics. He is also involved in several research protocols related to pelvic-perineal pain. He has received multiple awards for the quality of his teaching to residents in gynecology, aiming to make new techniques in pelvic reconstruction accessible. Ouellet has introduced multiple techniques and care protocols at CHUM and practices cutting-edge medicine with a critical evidence-based approach while fostering the development and evaluation of new technologies. He is actively involved in various hospital committees at the University of Montreal, the Collège des médecins du Québec, and the Royal College.
