Biography

Stéphane Poitras earned his Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy from the University of Ottawa in 1995, followed by a Master of Science in Clinical Sciences from the University of Sherbrooke in 1998. He completed his PhD in Public Health with a focus on health care organization at the University of Montréal in 2005. Additionally, Poitras was a postdoctoral fellow in Epidemiology Biostatistics at McGill University from 2005 to 2007. Since May 2007, he has been a professor at the University of Ottawa, leading the Physiotherapy Program. His research interests lie in musculoskeletal health problems, particularly in the context of orthopedic surgery and health services research. Over the past decade, his work has focused on rehabilitation associated with hip and knee arthroplasty, emphasizing assessment and management strategies. Poitras is also involved in thesis supervision for graduate students in programs including the Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences and the Doctorate in Rehabilitation Sciences.
