Biography

Dr. Stéphane Rinfret is a renowned cardiologist and Chief of Interventional Cardiology at McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). He serves as an Associate Professor of Medicine at McGill University. Dr. Rinfret completed his cardiology fellowship at the University of Montreal in 1997 and pursued further training in interventional cardiology at the Montreal Heart Institute Central Hospital (CHUM) from 1998 to 1999. He undertook a postgraduate fellowship in Interventional Cardiology and Health Services and Economic Research at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Clinical Research Institute in 2001, earning a master's degree in clinical epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health. His early career included seven years at CHUM before moving to the Institute of Cardiology and Pneumology of Quebec (IUCPQ) in 2008, where he worked for seven years. He joined McGill in 2016 and has become a leader in coronary interventions, performing approximately 300 percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) annually. He is responsible for MUHC’s Chronic Total Occlusion (CTO) Complex Higher-Risk Indicated Procedures (CHIP) program and is a researcher and educator with over 100 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Rinfret is also an invited lecturer internationally, contributing significantly to his field.
