Dr. Stephanie Burt

Biography

Stephanie Burt is the Donald P. Katherine B. Loker Professor of English at Harvard University. She received her B.A. from Harvard in 1994 and her Ph.D. from Yale in 2000. With a strong focus on poetry from the 20th and 21st centuries, Burt explores various aspects of literature including science fiction, literary geography, contemporary writing, and the interplay of literature with the arts. Her academic contributions include a number of notable works, such as "Mermaids" (2022), "Advice Lights" (2017), and "Close Calls Nonsense: Reading New Poetry" (2008). Burt actively participates in the academic community and is currently accepting graduate student advisees. Beyond her scholarly work, she is also known for her podcast, "Team-up Moves," which delves into various literary topics. Burt's diverse interests make her a prominent figure in the study and appreciation of modern literature.
