Stephanie Jed received her BA in Classics from Lawrence University and her PhD in Italian Literature from Yale University. She is a Professor Emerita in the Italian Comparative Literature Department at the University of California, San Diego. Her research interests include medieval and early modern Italian literature, Italian humanism, and the early modern constructions of knowledge, as well as literary theory, transnational feminism, and feminist theory. Professor Jed has published two books: 'Chaste Thinking: Rape, Lucretia, and the Birth of Humanism' and 'Wings of Courage: Gender, Erudition, and Republican Thought', along with several articles that have contributed to her field. Additionally, she has served as Chair of the Literature Department at UC San Diego.
